Congregational Events 

 

Church Picnic August 1

The Church Picnic will be Sunday, August 1 from 12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m. (rain or shine).  Please bring a dish to pass and your own beverage.  Names and ages of children for prizes and games will be needed when families sign up.  Help is needed with set-up and clean-up too!  Please, please sign up on the Fellowship of Worship form if you plan on attending as they need a count for the meat, paper products, and prizes! 

 

4:30 PM Sunday Worship Service Resumes Sept. 12

Due to very low attendance at our 4:30 p.m. Sunday Worship Service, our Sunday afternoon service will not meet during the summer.  This service will start up again the Sunday after Labor Day.

 

Children’s Director

For anyone interested in the Children’s Director position on St. John’s staff, please submit a resume to the church office.  A position description is available upon request.  The deadline to get resumes in is Monday, August 9.

 

 

 

 

Bookkeeper/Business Manager Position

For anyone interested in the Bookkeeper/Business Manager position on St. John’s staff, please submit a resume to the church office.  A position description is available upon request.  The deadline to get resumes in is Monday, August 9.

  

Ice Cream Social

Spirit Led will not be singing outside the church at the Ice Cream Social as noted in the July/August Newsletter.  Thank you.

 

Preschool Registration

Registration is still ongoing, please call the Maureen Roth (4 year old and multi-age M-W-F) or Mary Felong (3 year old T-Th) at 662-4781.

 

Church Softball

The last game is Monday, July 26 at 8:15 p.m. on Diamond 1 against Orchard Park Wesleyan.  The winner of this game will be Division 2 Champs! 

 

Farmer’s Market

The Youth are hosting a hot dog/hamburger stand at the Fox Run Farmers Market on August 19 and 26 with proceeds going toward youth events.  The Market is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Come eat a dog or burger with us!

 

Musical Talents

If anyone would like to share their musical talents during the 8:20 or 11:00 a.m. services over the summer, please call Nick Kempski (662-4747).

 

Apple Tree Collection

Please, please, please, pick an apple from the “Apple Tree” and buy the school supplies listed on it.  You can bring them back anytime during July and place them in the grocery cart in the Lobby.  These schools supplies are very much appreciated by our friends in the Southern Tier including Boston Valley School. The deadline for the collection is August 1.

 

Knitting Ministry

The next Knitting Ministry get together will be Wednesday, July 28 at Laurie Weeks’ house.

St. John’s Vision, Mission, and Values (New Member Class)

If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a member at St. John’s, the 3 Session New Member Class begins Sunday, August 15 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.  Please sign up on the FOW form.  Childcare is available upon request

The next Parish Nurse Office Hours are Wednesday, July 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

 

Health and Wellness Cabinet Meeting

The regular meeting of the Health and Wellness Cabinet is Monday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Education House/Parish Nurse Office.  Visitors are welcome.  Come and experience the joy of caring.

 

Children

 

Vacation Bible School—August 2-6, 8

Registration Forms are in the office and at the Welcome Center.  Please check the FOW form or call Mary Wellington (662-9142).  Please sign your children up ASAP as we are beginning to put them in groups now.

 

 

Vacation Bible School CD’s

Please stop at the Welcome Center to purchase CD’s with the songs the kids will be learning at VBS in August.  Just drop $5.00 in the box and take a CD; then start rocking to the music!

 

Vacation Bible School Supplies

Supplies needed are: paper towel tubes, empty Cool Whip containers, bright colored yarn, colored tissue paper, and the plastic 6 pack pop holder.  Please sign the Fellowship of Worship from to bring in snacks during VBS week.  PEANUT FREE SNACKS PLEASE!

 

Youth

 

Urban Christian Ministries Youth Summit

On July 31, St. John’s High School Youth are invited to join UCM for a community Ministry Day downtown Buffalo.  There will be speakers and music.  We will be reaching out to the children that attend through facepaint and games.  Meet at St. John’s at 9:00 a.m.

 

High School EDGE

EDGE will not meet in July.  We will start back up on August 22 with a BIG BASH!  Watch for other events through the summer.

 

Kingdom Bound Music Festival

St. John’s Youth are attending KB (at Darien Lake Theme Park) on Tuesday, August 3.  We will meet at church at 1:30 p.m. and return around midnight.  Cost is $55 and includes all rides and concerts.  Permission forms are required and are available on the youth bulletin board!

 

Farmer’s Market

The Youth are hosting a hotdog/hamburger stand at the Fox Run Farmers Market on August 19 and 26. Meet at Fox Run at 9:15 a.m.  Get picked up at St. John’s at 3:00 p.m.  Please consider working this booth one of the days!  Sign up on the Youth Bulletin Board. 

 

Middle School Lock In

All Middle School students (in the Fall) are invited for an overnight event here at St. John’s.  This will be high energy evening with games, games, food, games, singing, devotions, and more games!  All 6th through 8th grade students are invited.  Permission forms will be sent out and available soon.  Meet at church on August 20 at 7:30 p.m.  Pick up will be at 9:30 a.m. on August 21.
