Marriage Renewal Weekend

If you have been married for 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 years or any number of years and would like to renew your vows; on February 11/12, we will again hold Marriage Renewal Weekend.  Please sign the FOW form. 

 

Hand Knit Afghan

Darlene Ellis will be selling raffle ticket until March 4 for a Hand Knit Afghan to support Family Justice Center (OP).  The drawing will be March 10 at Nativity.

 

Christian Care and Support:

Our next meeting will be Mon., Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m.  We will be reviewing conference material from Renae Owens who went to learn about “healing presence.” 

 

Winter Family Fun Days at Camp Pioneer

Families are invited to attend a fun day of ice skating, snowshoeing, snacks, crafts, snowman and snow castle building, snow art, and devotion time at Camp Pioneer on February 11, (1:00-4:00 p.m.).  Suggested donation is $5.00 per family.  Call  549-1420 to register/more info.

The next New Member Classes will be Sun., March 11, 18, and 25 at 7:00 p.m.  Please sign the Fellowship of Worship form if you are interested in joining St. John’s .

 

Trivia Game Night

On Saturday, February 11, the High School youth will again host the 3rd Annual Trivia Night with Dennis George, The Quiz Master.  This evening is full of fun with teams of 5 competing in a Family Feud style game for prizes.  All ages are welcome.  Cost for a team is $100 (includes food/competition).  Individuals can enjoy food/show without competing for $10.00 at the door.  To register your team of 5, call Nicole O’Connell at church.

 

Attention All Quilters!

The 5th Annual Quilt Auction and Luncheon benefiting Camp Pioneer is going to be Saturday, May 19.  We are asking for quilted donations of large or small quilts, table runners, wall hangings, pillows, and baby quilts. Please see or call Lin Carr (662-4747) for more info. 

 

St. John’s Christian Preschool Registration

St. John’s Christian Preschool is now accepting registration for the 2012-2013 School Year.  New Times and Classes are available.  Registration forms are available in the Church Office, Website, Welcome Center or call 662-4781.

Early Communion Class

If your child is in 5th - 8th Grade and would like to receive Communion, Pastor Nate will be teaching a class Sunday, February 26 and continues on March 4 at 7:00 p.m. for parents/children.  Please sign the FOW form.

 

Prayer Group

On Sunday, February 5 the Prayer Group will me in the Sanctuary at 12:15 p.m. due to the Super Bowl.  The group usually meets at 7:00 p.m. every other Sunday.  Please check the FOW form if you would like to come. 

 

Altar Guild

Attention all former (no longer serving) members of the Altar Guild: if you have a key to the church, it needs to be returned to either Sue Gallagher, Sharon Stanes, or Wendy Cicero.  Any present members of the Altar Guild who do not have a key, please call Sue Gallagher.    

 

Blood Pressure Screening

The next Blood Pressure Screening will be after every service in the Library, February 11/12.

 

Special Needs

We are in need of the following: blankets/sheets, drapes, microwaves, towels, children’s clothes (infant-teens), pots and pans, men’s jeans/pants (sizes: 28/32, 33/34,and 34/33) boys jeans (sizes:8,10,12,14,16), girl’s jeans (sizes:14/16, 0-8), and children’s sneakers: up to size 5.  See June Meissner or leave at the Green Bins.

The Ragamuffin Gospel

Kelsey Grulke will lead a Bible Study, Ragamuffin Gospel, starting February 5 at 9:40 a.m.  The cost of the book is $10.00.  Please check the Fellowship of Worship form so we have enough books.

 

Financial Peace University Is Coming To St. John’s !

FPU is a 13 week class on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Please talk to Pastor Carl.

 

1 Corinthians: Questions For The Church Today

The Book of 1 Corinthians is one that addresses serious issues in our church today.  Tom Forth leads this class at 9:40 a.m. in the Church Library. 

 

Exploring the Old Testament: Daniel

Pastor Nate’s Bible Class on Daniel meets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Fellowship Hall. 

 

Food For The Body-Food For The Soul

“Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, The Resurrection and the Mission of the Church” is the title of the Bible Study beginning Monday, Feb. 6 at 12:00 Noon.  This video based series will lead us to think about what the Scripture has to say.

 

Hope and Healing Long Term Care Support Group

The Group will meet with Pastor Wurster in West Room II on Sunday, February 12 at 2:30 p.m.  Please check the Fellowship of Worship form.

High School EDGE

EDGE is a weekly Sunday night gathering for student to connect to each other and to their Savior, Jesus!  We meet from 7:00 –8:30 p.m. in the green Youth Room.  (We will not meet on February 5.)

 

Week of Hope Service Mission Trip

TODAY is the final deadline to register!  Forms and information can be found on the Bulletin Board in the Preschool Hallway.

 

30 Hour Famine (6th—12th Grade Youth)

This annual event is a fun/active way for students to learn about and fight hunger.  We meet on Feb. 17 at 6:15 p.m. to travel to St. Paul in Eden .  Pick up will be on Feb. 18 at 4:30 p.m. from St. John’s .  Permission forms have been mailed out and more are available from Nicole O’Connell.

 

High School Sub Making and Trivia Night Help

Youth are encouraged to come help make subs on Saturday, February 4 from 2:00-4:30 p.m.  Youth (and their parents) are also needed to help with the running of the Trivia Night on Feb. 11 from 4:30-9:00 p.m.
